
ORLEANS – Linda Hall (Whitcher) Dishner, 79 of South Orleans passed away peacefully Thursday December 21, 2017 at Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by love and family. She was the wife of B/General Jimmy Dishner and the daughter of Harold and Marion Whitcher. She lived in South Orleans for the past 17 years and enjoyed frequent visits to Skaket Beach.
Linda was born on June 14, 1938 in New Haven, CT. She lived in Hamden, CT until she married the love of her life, Jimmy Dishner in 1961. They were married for 56 years and enjoyed travel, dining and spending quality time with family and friends.
Linda graduated from Green Mountain College in 1958 where she received her Associates Degree and completed her accounting degree in 1977. She was the bookkeeper and secretary for the Director of the National Council on Religion at Yale University, worked for H&R Block and was the Administrative Assistant for the Hunterdon Youth Shelter in Flemington, NJ for 14 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) since 1969.
Linda is survived by 2 children, Cheryl L. D. Bardetti and her husband Renzo of Southborough, MA and Jeffrey G. Dishner and his wife Cathy of Greenwich, CT. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Andrew Bardetti and his wife Morgan, Peter Bardetti, Katie and Jackie Dishner. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara W. Stern.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 11am at the Federated Church of Orleans, MA. Interment will be private. The family is being compassionately cared for by Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster, MA.
