Dr. Martin C. Rosner of Paramus, NJ and Eastham, MA—beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, and poet—passed peacefully on November 11, 2025, at age 93. He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene (Ackerman) Rosner, the love of his life.
Born in New York City to Harry and Rebecca (Hoffer) Rosner, and raised in the Bronx, Martin’s humble beginnings shaped his character of resilience and tenacity. Gifted and driven, Martin graduated from Bronx High School of Science, New York University, and Downstate Medical School, where he was awarded the prize for excellence as the top medical student.
He met Arlene on a blind date, and they married in 1955, sharing a lifetime of love and adventure, including three joyful years in England while Martin served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps.
Upon returning to New Jersey, Martin established a thriving medical practice in Westwood and held several distinguished hospital appointments, including Chief of Cardiology and Assistant Director of Medicine at Jewish Memorial Hospital, Chief of Hypertension Research at Kingsbridge Veterans' Hospital, and Senior Attending Physician and Consultant in Cardiology at Pascack Valley Hospital. He was board-certified in Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and was known for his clinical excellence and deep empathy.
Beyond medicine, Martin was a gifted poet and lover of music and literature. He was a founding fellow of the International Academy of Poetry, and inspired by the beauty of Cape Cod, he authored six poetry collections. His cottage in Eastham provided decades of joy, creativity, and family togetherness—a place filled with books, music, and imagination. Martin also spent 11 beautiful winters in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and traveled extensively around the world with his wife, Arlene.
Dr. Rosner is survived by his three children: Susan Hope of Eastham, MA; Steven (Carol) Rosner of Brewster, MA; and Bruce (Karen) Rosner of Scarsdale, NY. He was the proud grandfather of David (Meg), Alexa (Jack), Kate, Erin, Jared, Julia, and Olivia. He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Harbor, Holly, and Drew. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the words he left behind.
A memorial service will be held at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ, on Monday, November 17 at 2 p.m. Shiva will follow at the home of Bruce Rosner from 4:30–8:00 p.m. Contributions in Martin’s memory may be made to The Wounded Warriors Foundation (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org ) and World Jewish Congress (https://www.worldjewishcongress.org/en), honoring his lifelong spirit of service.
