MaryAnn began her life on August 7, 1928, the youngest of 3 children and only daughter of Herbert W. and Irene O. Spencer in Louisville, KY. She attended Ohio Wesleyan and graduated from the University of KY in 1950 with a B.S. in Home Economics. While working in the insurance industry MaryAnn met the love of her life Robert S. Jamison (Zack), whom she married on August 22, 1953, and quickly put her Home Economics degree into good use raising their five children. The family moved from KY to CT in 1963 and lived there until moving to the Community of Jesus in 1977, where she was a solemnly professed member.
MaryAnn led a life service at the Community volunteering in multiple capacities, most notably her 40 years in the Bursars Office. She loved to travel and was always ready for the next adventure, whether it was digging for antique bottles on the side of a road in New England or joining a gym at the age of 87 in order to train for her climb up the Tower of Pisa, Italy. She traveled throughout Europe, the Holy Land, Russia, Egypt, and across the United States. She especially loved the times she spent sailing with Zack, wherever and whenever they could find a boat and a breeze. MaryAnn also had the gift of caring for and maintaining close friendships, some that spanned nine decades.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her children, Christy Haig (Peter), Scott Jamison (Laura), Sister Naomi Jamison, Andrew Jamison (Leta), and Holly Shackelford (Jay), 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and her dear little dog and constant companion, Jeffrey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Mount Tabor Ecumenical Center, P.O. Box 700, Orleans, MA.
