Nancy Louise Fournier (McGraw) of Orleans (formerly of Hyannis), passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 10, 2024 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Alfred “Fred” Fournier, who affectionately called her “Dietz.” Nancy leaves her three daughters: Anne Marie Dangler, Linda Nickerson and Christine Rono, along with their respective husbands: Daniel, Allen and Nathaniel. Her grandchildren, Benjamin Nickerson and his wife, Kim, Kasey Nickerson, Hannah Dangler, Amelia and Heidi Rono.
Nancy was born in Akron, Ohio on July 18, 1932 to John and Helen McGraw (Reymann). After living in several Mid-Western states, the family settled in Rhode Island where she completed her education and where she met Fred and married him in 1953.
Nancy was happiest being with family and many friends and, throughout her 91 years, she earned the reputation of always being a warm, loving, and kind person. Everyone who visited Nancy’s home felt welcomed and loved. Fred and Nancy were known for their social gatherings. Nobody loved holidays more than Nancy, especially Christmas. She especially enjoyed decorating her home, always making it welcoming and festive! Nancy maintained life-long friendships with her high school girlfriends, known as the “Friday Nighters.” Nancy also played bridge with friends and was a member of the Cummaquid Golf Club since 1974, where she was part of the “Nine-Holers.” According to her three daughters, Nancy’s greatest joy was being a grandmother to her five grandchildren - always a loving, comforting and calming presence to them. If you were ever lucky enough to receive a “just touching base” phone call, she would always end the call with “I love you dearly.”
Nancy was a very social and active volunteer in many endeavors involving her children. She was the President of the Mother’s Club at St. Patrick’s School in Cumberland, Rhode Island and volunteered in the library at Hyannis West Elementary. Aside from being a homemaker, she worked as a Secretary for Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Rhode Island and a Clerk for the Town of Cumberland Water Department. After moving to Cape Cod in 1972, Nancy was a dedicated volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society Pantry at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Hyannis. For several years, she was also a Tour Guide covering Cape Cod and Boston. After she and Fred moved to Orleans in 2014, she volunteered at the St. Joan of Arc Parish Thrift Shop.
Nancy was very proud of her connection to her Ohio lineage, where her mother was one of 16 children in the Reymann family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Charles and Salome Reymann Foundation, which is a charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities in Northeast Ohio.
