Born to Frank L. and Emily M. (Lawrence) Shaw in Newton, MA, September 3, 1914, he
resided in Barrington, RI for 65 years. Recently a resident of Orleans, MA, he passed
away Monday at Liberty Commons Nursing Home in N. Chatham, MA.
Starting his career at Simon Saw and Steel, then Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.
Horner Millwork(Somerset, MA) and Geo. W. Dahl Co of Bristol, RI, His greatest
passion was telling the good news of Jesus’ love, forgiveness of sin and eternal life. He
accomplished this at fairs, churches, prisons, camps, wherever there was a listening
ear. He had been associated with The Buttonwoods Bible Chapel of W. Warwick and
earlier with Bethany Gospel Chapel of Swansea, MA for over 40 years.
Formerly married to Violet Batstone Shaw of Worcester, MA until her death in
1980, he leaves his dear wife of 31 years, Joan E. (nee Barron) (Chapman) Shaw
formerly of Sudbury, MA. and Ontario, Canada; his son, Lawrence B. [Carol] of Akron,
OH and daughter, Carol Joan (Shaw) Plumb [Peter] of Northfield, NH. In addition are
step-children E. Wesley Chapman [Sue] of Eastham, MA, F. Brian Chapman [Cheryl] of
Charlotte, MI; Laura Kegerreis [Randall], Indianapolis, IN and John Chapman (Lori) of
Marston Mills, MA., fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 1pm-3pm on Thursday, August 11, 2011 with a funeral service beginning at 2pm, at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA. Burial and graveside service are planned for Friday, August 12 at Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Rd. Barrington, R.I., 11:00 a.m.
