

Richard “Dick” Frechette, aged 68 passed away on February 11, 2013 of an aggressive cancer that took his life in only 8 weeks, at the Mary McCarthy Center in Sandwich, MA, surrounded by his loving family and his dog Buffy by his side.
Dick was born on February 1, 1945 in Lawrence, MA to Beatrice and Armand Frechette.
He was the youngest of 5 children, leaving behind his sister Jean Levandowski of Barefoot Bay, FL, his sister Pauline Farrell of Laguna Woods, CA, his brother Paul Frechette and his wife Anne, of Perdido Key, FL and his brother Armand Frechette and his wife Terry of Orlando, FL.
He attended Lawrence High School in Lawrence, MA and later joined the US Navy in 1963, serving our country during the Vietnam War as a culinary cook on the USS Ogden, LPD.
Dick married Michele Damphousse on February 23, 1968 in Lawrence, MA. Together they had 3 children.
From 1969-1980, they owned and operated the Grand View Lodge in Twin Mountain, NH. Upon the sale of the business, they settled full time on Cape Cod, where Dick for the next 6 years continued his passion of cooking, at their new endeavor at the Nauset Light Diner in North Eastham, MA.
After the sale of the restaurant, Dick pursued a new career as a food salesman for the next 17 years for US Food Service.
When the opportunity arose, he bought Lower Cape Coffee Service and made it a very lucrative business till his retirement on February 1, 2012.
Dick made lifelong relationships with many of his customers, and put a smile on everyones face with his optimism and good humor. Some of his favorite times where spent with family and friends, especially with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Buddy and Jane Damphousse and their kids Jay and Brad, with many fond memories of clamming, snowmobiling and fishing. Dick also had a passion for gardening and woodworking, leaving behind some beautiful works of art.
Dick is a lifelong member of the Eastham-Orleans Elks Club and a member of Veterans of Foreign War.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 45 years Michele, his daughter Danielle, her husband Michael Benton, and their children Alexi and Gracie from Redlands, CA, his daughter Nicky, her partner Helene and their children Cedar and Lily from Keene, NY, and his son Dusty, his wife Luciana and their children Noa and Lana of Kailua-Kona, HI.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Mary McCarthy Center for their attentiveness and loving care.
Please join the family for a Celebration of Life that will be held in his honor on June 22, 2013 at the Orleans-Eastham Elks Lodge in North Eastham, on McCoy Rd, from 3-6pm.
Dick will be laid to rest at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Bourne, MA in a private ceremony.
Dick will be never forgotten, he was loved by many and his compassion for life will live in our hearts forever. “We love you all around the world.”
