HARWICH – Robert “Ted” Brown, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday June 14, 2013, after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Orleans, the son of Adele and Albert Brown, and graduated from the Massachusetts Maritime academy in 1957, before joining the Navy. Unable to leave the sea, he made commercial fishing his life – mostly offshore lobstering, and fishing for cod, haddock, tilefish, and of course, for clams and quahogs.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Diane (Manning), four dearly loved children: Scott Brown and Deanna Brown, both of California, Lisa Brown of Eastham, and Franklin Brown of Chelsea, ME; and their mother Suzanne (Ryder) Linehan of Ocala, FL; two stepchildren, Heather Woodward and Andrew Cullum, both of Harwich; eight precious grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many, many, dear friends. Ted was predeceased by his only sibling, Richard Brown of Orleans.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to Hope Hospice for all its support, guidance and care - we are so grateful.
A memorial visitation will begin at noon on Saturday June 22, 2013 at Nickerson Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 1pm. Burial of ashes will follow in the Orleans Cemetery.
