

He was born on March 31, 1962, in Hartford CT. to Roland R. Trailor Sr. and Dr. Colette (Bibeau) Trailor. He was a proud Norwich Free Academy Class of 1980 graduate, earned both a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University and Pennsylvania State University, and was a licensed Professional Engineer.
Roland was recognized as a Distinguished Master Shipbuilder at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division with more than 40 years of employment until his passing. He assumed many roles including Engineering Supervisor and Principal Engineer/Subject Matter expert with strong engineering acumen. Additionally, Roland was an Adjunct Professor at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury, CT where he taught engineering principles to build solid foundations of learning.
Roland was always giving back and actively engaged in his community. He was a certified Coach and relished his 15-years as Head Basketball Coach at Salem Middle School in Salem, CT. The athletes recognized him when he retired from coaching as a ‘coach that impacts lives’. He relished the comradery and friendships for the past 30-years with his EB men’s basketball league.
Roland met the love of his life, Debora (Doyka) Trailor, and they were married for 31-years. Roland was so proud of their son Michael, speaking of him often and excited for his future with his fiancée Madison. He encouraged learning something new every day and making sure someone has the ‘orange vest’. He will be truly missed by so many.
Roland is survived by his parents and his siblings,Christopher, Andrew and Suzanne, his beloved Sis.
End of life services will be private in honor of his wishes.
