

Born in Ridgefield, Connecticut, on April 29, 1960, to John J. and Marilyn (Doscher) Tropsa, Susan enjoyed a happy childhood before moving to Freeport, Illinois, in the eighth grade. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1978, where she was actively involved in tennis, swimming, theater, and the French club. Susan pursued her college education at Arizona State University, where she joined the Chi Omega sorority, forming lasting friendships.
Susan built a distinguished career in medical sales, training, and implementation. Her expertise and dedication earned her numerous accolades, including being named Representative of the Year twice at Elutia (Aziyo Biologics) and frequent recognition in the company’s Circle of Excellence.
Susan's children, John and Caroline, were her greatest pride and joy. She was deeply impressed by their intelligence, kindness, and loving nature. She often spoke with admiration of their remarkable accomplishments and the depth of their character, noting how their compassion and empathy reflected her own values. Her love for them was immense, and they were central to her life and happiness.
In addition to her role as a devoted mother, Susan cherished her time at Nauset Beach in Cape Cod, which she considered her sanctuary. She also had a passion for skiing, finding joy in the exhilarating slopes of Big Sky, Montana. Susan's love for New England was profound and enduring, and she had been eagerly planning her return there, drawn by its natural beauty and the sense of home it provided.
Known for her ambition, compassion, and sense of humor, Susan's vibrant spirit and deep love for those around her will be profoundly missed.
She is survived by her children, John Clark of Portland, Oregon, and Caroline Wittekind of Boston; her mother, Marilyn Tropsa of Yarmouth, Massachusetts; and her brothers, Gregory of Lyon Mountain, NY and Jeffrey of Tempe, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her father, John J. Tropsa, and other cherished family members.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, Massachusetts. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Orleans United Methodist Church, 73 Main Street, Orleans, Massachusetts. Interment will follow at Orleans Cemetery, Tonset Road, Orleans.
