Born and raised in Wellfleet.
“A true Wellfleetion”
Billy was married for 65 years to his sweetheart Phyllis (Rogers) and together they raised five children.
Billy was a man of multiple talents, an offshore Georges Bank fisherman on his brother James’s boat: “The Magellan”. He worked in construction, he was a mason, and a professional tiler including the bathroom tile work that he did in the Old Jailhouse Restaurant. He owned a tile company named “Tiles R Us” and also a foundation company. In addition, he was an excellent cook. Loved playing golf and won many golf tournaments. He loved building bird houses, he could look at a neighbor’s house and make a reproduction into a birdhouse. He was truly a jack of all trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or tackle.
He loved racing his BSA and riding his Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Also, He was known as one hell of a hell raiser. So true!!!!!!
He actually built his own scallop boat “Miss Normie”, named after his mother in-law. He helped his grandson Jeremiah build his lobster boat the “Why Not” as well as his son Michael’s boat the “So What”.
He loved all wild life and enjoyed feeding and watching his friendly raccoon family and one once came into the doggie door looking for a snack.
He also loved sitting on the deck, watching the birds and sipping on a beverage. He loved all his children’s dogs. He had an especially strong bond with Zoey. He would say: “Zoey is my dog.”
He enjoyed visiting Camden, Maine and visiting his brother in-law and friends.
Billy had an enormous smile and infectious laugh, a jokester and a personality that made everyone smile, he was well known to so many people and will be dearly missed. Always willing to lend a hand to help anyone even strangers. A great conversationalist.
He leaves behind his beautiful wife Phyllis (Rogers) Taylor, a son Michael (Patti) Taylor of Orleans, Kim Craffey of Orleans, Tammy (Steve) Taylor Preu of Harwich and Brenda (John) Taylor Queenan of Orleans, and in-addition he was predeceased by his son Kenny.
