

Alfred W. Monroe 70, of Holly Hill was promoted to glory peacefully at home with his loving wife of 48 years Janice by his side. He leaves behind three sons Anthony (Branda) A. Monroe, Timothy A. Monroe, and Douglas W. (Jane) Monroe daughter Tamela L (Daniel) Davis, 15 beautiful grandchildren that were the apple of his eye and one great grandchild. He served in the U.S. Army for 9 years as a M.P. during the Vietnam War. He served twice overseas in Germany and South Korea. After being discharged from the Army he worked as an officer for 27 years with the Ormond Beach Police Department where he was shot and wounded in the line of duty answering an armed robbery call in 1975. He attended the Salvation Army Church all his life and spent many hours volunteering. He follows his parents Alfred H. and Mildred Monroe, daughter in law Gayle Monroe and grandson Anthony. He will be missed. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 P.M. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N. Nova Rd. Ormond Beach. Funeral services will be held Thursday 3P.M. at the Salvation Army Church 1555 LPGA Blvd. Daytona Beach.
