Barbara "Basia" Skora

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 12:30 pm, at the Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129.

Basia was born in Poland on December 2, 1927, daughter of Jan and Anna (Rajewska) Grodzki. She met and married her adoring late husband, Walter “Wally”, in France and moved to the United States in 1958. Born in Poland and raised in France, this 1927 model was a feisty, caring, loving woman who always dedicated her time to putting family first. If you needed something, she was always there for you and protected the ones she loved until her last breath. A vintage model that cannot be duplicated. Her first job was at the Chicago Tribune followed by Illinois Herb Company and finally was the Retail Sales Manager for the Domestic Department at Zayre’s Company where she followed her love for fashion and shopping. After her retirement, she loved shopping and dining in Downtown Chicago with her son. She traveled back to France several times to visit her brother and family. Her most special moments were spent with her family who loved her, especially her two grandchildren that spent every holiday with her as well as frequently trips to her favorite places such as Disney and the Volusia Mall. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Epiphany in Port Orange, Florida.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved son, John Skora of Port Orange, and his wife, Corrine; grandchildren Stephan and Gabrielle Skora, and brother, Stephan Grodzki; sister-in-law, Elizabeth; niece Berengere and family members of Paris, France; and special friend Krystyna Merklinger of Port Orange. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
