Fredie L. "Bud" McCauley, a resident of Daytona Beach, Florida, was born on October 16, 1950, and passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 75
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, James Lauremore; his parents, Raymond and Stella McCauley; and four siblings.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra McCauley, his steady partner and greatest joy; his son, Daniel Lauremore Jr.; his grandson, Daniel Lauremore III; and his sister, Sharon Medders, along with many friends who felt more like family than friends.
Bud never met a stranger—only someone he hadn’t talked to yet. Racing ran through his veins. He helped build race cars and stock cars, one of which proudly sits on display at the Motorsports Hall of Fame. He also played a part in building the Volusia County Speedway, a track that reflected his passion for speed, precision, and community. The smell of fuel, the roar of engines, and the camaraderie of the pits were places where Bud felt most alive.
Away from the track, Bud’s heart belonged to Sandra. He cherished their date nights together, especially when they ended with their favorite restaurant for the fried shrimp platter and easy conversation. He was a loving, devoted husband—opinionated, yes—but always sincere, always loyal, and always present.
Bud could fix anything. If it was broken, he believed it could be rebuilt—better, stronger, and ready to run again. That belief carried through every part of his life and into the way he loved the people around him.
Bud McCauley will be remembered for his strong hands, open heart, love of racing, and the genuine way he lived—full throttle, start to finish.
