Our dear mother, Doris McCormick, left us to join her husband Cecil McCormick and youngest daughter, Mary McCormick Hodes in Heaven. She departed this earth on 12-29-2022, just 4 months shy of her 100th birthday having been born in Toledo, Ohio, on 4-26-1923, to Buzz and Alma Kraft. She lived in many places after her marriage to Cecil, a Navy man, on 8-19-43. Their travels would take them to such places as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Havana, Cuba; Maryland, outside Washington D.C.; Arlington, Virginia; in 1960 to Jacksonville, Florida; then in 1964 to Ormond Beach where she had resided until her death. I think her proudest achievement was raising her 8 children, 7 of whom she has left behind. They are Donna Daniels (Bob), Mike McCormick (Yoko), Kathy Chance (Chick), Sue Causey (Rick Seiler), Tom McCormick (Leslie); Patty Freer; and Steve McCormick (Melissa). Her daughter Mary Hodes preceded her in death in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil McCormick in February 1980. Mom lived a very rich life spending most of it raising her 8 children. She was very active almost to the end of her life, having worked for the Prince of Peace Office for many years and then doing volunteer for their Like New Shop for over 20 years, well into her 90’s. She was a very social individual and always needed to stay busy. She took part in a bowling league; loved to read, do crossword puzzles and sudoku. She is also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Bobby Daniels, Kimberly Daniels, Shannon Daniels Peters (Tyler), Brian Daniels, Heather Causey, Zach McCormick, Nick McCormick, Michael Freer, Kristina Freer Stewart (Adam), Steven Freer, Chopper Hodes, Cory Hodes (Anastasia) and Coy Hodes; as well as 4 greatgrandchildren, Owen and Clara Peters, and Aiden and Jaxon Stewart. Many more friends will definitely miss her, including Choppy Hodes and Wayne Causey.
The family of Doris would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility of Ormond Beach for taking such good care of mom during the last couple of years of her life.
