Dorothy L. Bates, 71, a resident of De Leon Springs, FL passed away August 27, 2016. She was born on October 12, 1944 in Eden, NC to the late Charles and Gaynelle Coleman. Dot enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and music. She had a passion for playing cards, especially Poker which she even taught to her grandchildren. Dot worked for Osteen's Pharmacy in Daytona Beach. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Dennis Bates; Son Allen Bates (Chen) of Winter Garden, FL; Sisters, Janice Beardsley Hamrick (Ron) of South Daytona and Betty Hill of Mt. Claire, NJ, also left to cherish her memory are Grandchildren Hunter and Erica Bates; Nieces, Jandrea, Rhonda and Lori; Nephews Randy and Randall. A visitation will be held on September 1, 2016 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd. Ormond Beach from 1:30- 2:30 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach, FL.
