

Douglas W. Johnson, 90, of Daytona Beach Shores, FL. passed away on 3/26/14 at his home where he often quoted "Another day in Paradise". He was born 11/12/23 in Hartford, CT. and was the son of the late William & Marie Johnson.
Doug graduated from Hall High in 1941. He served as a fighter pilot on the USS WASP - South Pacific in the Navy during World War II. He married and raised his family in West Hartford, CT. He also enjoyed his summers at Point O’ Woods Beach in South Lyme, CT. As a contractor he built many homes and was the President of The Home Builders Assoc. from 1967-1968. He built the Buckland Professional Center in S. Windsor, CT and then retired in 1984 to Daytona Beach, FL. Doug enjoyed fishing, playing golf and was very proud of his hole in one at Cypress Head Golf Course in Port Orange, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian of 69 years, his daughters Sandra Spencer of Port Orange, FL., Connie Rusate (Joe) of Vernon, CT & Judy Bichun of Port Orange, FL.; 5 grandchildren, Gary (Marcy), Virginia (David), Traci (Ian), Nikki (Mark) and Jamie; 5 great-grandchildren, Codey, Corrina, Kristen, Devin & Emma. His sister Nancy Gaffin (William) of Windsor, CT.

A service to Celebrate his life will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. In the Social Room of The Ocean Six Condominium, 2967 S. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach Shores, FL. At a later date we will have a memorial service at the First Baptist Church in West Hartford, CT.
