Fred was born and raised in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He proudly served in the Army, stationed in Korea, during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Physics. He began his engineering career at Philco, then dedicated 31 years at General Electric.
Fred met his wife Joan at the wedding of his best friend who married Joan’s cousin. They dated long distance until they married 65 years ago this coming May 19, 2026. Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a Boy Scout den leader, active in his children’s schools and PTA President.
After retirement, Fred spent the majority of his time volunteering in the community along with his fellow GE coworkers in the Elfun Society. He tutored at local schools, built homes with Habitat for Humanity and delivered for Meals on Wheels. He was a great man of faith. He spent many years volunteering in his church and served as a Lecture and Minister of the Eucharist. He was kind, compassionate and humble. He never complained and never spoke ill of anyone.
One of his greatest joys in life was becoming Pop-Pop. He spent his days taking his grandchildren to the park, going on walks, teaching them chess, attending all their sporting events, ballet recitals and musicals, robotic club competitions and band concerts. All while beaming with pride.
