

Frederick W. Hering, Ed.,D. passed away on February 28, 2015 at the Emory L. Bennett Veteran’s Nursing Home in Daytona Beach, FL, he was 90 years old. Born in New York City, Frederick was a World War II veteran that served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 until 1947. He was a “True Marine” and showed great pride in his service throughout his life. After the war he attended New York University, Columbia University and earned his Doctorate in Public Health Education from the University of Alabama. The Crimson Tide was another source of pride for him all during his life. His career was in Public Health but Education was a passion for him as he was a college Professor and he established the “Health University” to help educate individuals on international health issues. He traveled extensively throughout the world during his lifetime and shared that passion with many close friends. Frederick moved to central Florida in 1980 and lived in Port Orange since 1997. Additionally, he was a Life Member in the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), where he served the Port Orange Post as Surgeon for 10 years. He is survived by wife, Susan, son, Frederick Jr., daughter-in-law, Gail, and brothers: Frank and John. He will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on March 6, 2015 at 1:30pm. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
