Gerry was born May 2 , 1921 in Colorado Springs, CO., to Don and Clara Roberson. Gerry was raised in Coshocton Ohio, although she moved and traveled throughout the U.S. being the daughter of a Wildcat Oil driller. During those travels, Gerry met Jack Galley. They were later married on December 12, 1941, at Randolph Field Chapel, nuptials having been planned for months in advance with Gerry and Jack's parents and family members present along with friends. Gerry continued traveling with Jack, an officer in the Air Force, they lived at different Air Force bases around the country. Gerry waited for Jack as he fought in WWII. Upon his return he went to work as a pilot for Delta Air Lines and they moved to South Miami, Fl. Gerry loved the warm climate of Miami and its beautiful beaches. She had found her home. She spent many
days at the beach writing poems and reading. Her brother Keith was in the process of opening a restaurant in Puerto Rico in 1949 and asked her to help him. She flew back and forth from Miami to Puerto Rico for the better part of that year. She would also accompany Jack on some of his airline trips, these were truly the glamorous years for travel and aviation.
Florida was to be her and Jack's forever home, they moved to North Miami Beach and subsequently Miami Shores. During those years, her main focus became being a homemaker and Mother to her only son Gregory born December of 1953. She did manage time to be in the Delta Women Pioneers, V.P. of the Miami Chapter of the American Heart Association, a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Real Estate Broker with Laura Mc Carthy Realtors being the top producer 3 years in a row, an avid Bridge player, and also a golfer. Many afternoons were spent playing 9 holes of golf with Jack at the Miami Shores C.C.
In 1980, Gerry had one more Florida move to make, upon Jack's retirement from Delta, they settled in Ormond Beach and joined Oceanside C.C. Gerry made many new friends. She played in
Oceanside Women's golf league, played countless hours of duplicate bridge, even got involved with the Ormond Beach Flower Club. She had another role to fulfill and that was Grandmother to Jack, James and Kristine Galley. Over that next 20 years she fulfilled that role exceptionally well, with countless visits from all of them, along with their friends. Grandma's house was the place to be for home-cooked meals, the ocean just 3 blocks away and the C.C. for golf and dining. Grandma's house created a lifetime of memories.
In the final part of her 100-year-life journey she became Great Grandmother to Arabella and Dylan.
With all those previous years of traveling she still had one more trip to make. In 2018, she moved to N.C. where Her final years were lovingly spent with Kristine, Arabella and Kevin Reed.
Most important of all to Gerry was her husband Jack and her son Greg, whom she loved and admired, and her Grandchildren Jack, James and Kristine, her Great Grandchildren Arabella and Dylan. She is survived by her son's fiancé Christie Peel and Family, her cousin Randy Funston and his wife Deanna, her nephew's daughter Sami, Andy Zighelboim and Family, and Nancy Willenborg and Family.
