

Howard Hepburn Heinbuch passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 27, 1927 to Herma (Wilms) and Howard H. Heinbuch, Sr. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lois Heinbuch Brown. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Janet (Pritchett) Heinbuch; and children Deborah K. Gavin (Paul) of Waretown, NJ; and David H. Heinbuch (Maureen) of Simpsonville, SC; son-in-law Ronald A Brown of NYC, NY.; grandchildren Daniel Brown (Grace and great grandchildren Maya and Matthew), Michael Brown, David Gavin (Nicole and great granddaughter, Emma), Scott Gavin (Lauren), Timothy Heinbuch, Stephanie Heinbuch Laman (James).
Howard graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1944. He served aboard the US PCER 856 (later renamed The USS Whitehall) in the Pacific until the end of WWII, and was Sonarman Second Class when honorably discharged in May 1946.
He began working for the B&O Railroad in 1946 and served a four year special apprenticeship, certified as a diesel specialist. In 1961 he moved to Oakland, NJ and was employed by American Brake Shoe Company (later renamed Abex Corp) in Mahwah, NJ. as a test engineer, which included extensive travel throughout the US. He retired to Daytona Beach, FL in 1977.
For 60 years he was a member of the Masonic Order, Corinthian Masonic Lodge #93 AF&AM Towson, MD.
Howard was an active member of Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church for 40 years where he served as Deacon. He especially enjoyed helping with Halifax Urban Ministries and Habitat for Humanity volunteer activities.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, March 4th, at the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 105 Amsden Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.
