Jacob Vandegraaf, lovingly known as Jake, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the age of 88. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Jake lived a full and vibrant life, defined by his devotion to family, his faith, and his many passions.
Jake was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Diane; and was a source of strength and kindness to all who knew him. A true adventurer at heart, Jake was an enthusiastic world traveler who especially loved cruises and life on the road in his RV. His passion for landscaping shaped much of his professional life, and his love for beautifying spaces was widely recognized — including receiving the Beautification Award at Perry’s Ocean Edge in the 1990s, a testament to his dedication and artistry.
Jake’s deep faith was central to his life. He was a proud and active member of Crossroads Church, where he found joy and purpose in volunteering, especially by planting flowers and maintaining the church grounds — always with a cheerful willingness to lend a helping hand.
Jake is survived by his loving wife, Diane Vandegraaf, his brother, Coby Vandegraaf (Patty) his children, James Vandegraaf (Theresa), Gary Vandegraaf (Tami), Jean Dickinson (Bill), Robert Vandegraaf, Jeanene Hawk (James), Joey Satfield (Tammy), Jeffery Satfield (Claudia), Leeann Shafer (Wyatt) many grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy; and his cherished companion dogs Benji and Molly. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Sent from my iPhone
