James Van Curry, age 88 of Holly Hill passed away on September 28th at his home with his wife and son by his side. James was born in Linden, Tenneesse the youngest of 11 children. He attended the Tenneesse School for the Deaf. After continuing his education in Graphic Arts he put his skills to work at The Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, and The News Journal, retiring from the News Journal after 28 years.
James was married to Helen Curry for 29 years. He is Survived by his wife Helen, son Malcolm James Curry (spouse Dusti), grandchildren Karen Johnson (spouse Andrew), Malcolm Curry, and Sandra Curry. great grandchildren Malcolm, Hailey, Cameron, Liam, and Jordan.
James was predeceased by his parents and 10 siblings.
A graveside service for James will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174. Flowers can be sent to Volusia Memorial.
