

Capt. James A. Fitton, 91 of Palm Coast passed away September 17, 2012 with his daughter Pamela by his side. Mr. Fitton was born March 14, 1921 to parents Williard and Mable Fitton in Boston, MA. James graduated Boston University and was accepted to Harvard, but rather than continuing to Harvard James entered the United States Navy where he eventually became the Captain of an 83 man ATR-83, which is an ocean going tug. He worked 25 years as a Purchasing Agent for Shell Oil. Upon retirement from Shell Mr. Fitton opened Maude Moore Florist and Gift shop in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. James is survived by his two daughters Pamela Leddy of Palm Coast and Barbara Moore-Moon of Clarkville, GA; brother Williard Fitton(Beverly); sisters Betty Fitton and Esther Brenner all of Palm Coast; two grandchildren; Martin Leddy,VI (Abigail) of Powder Springs, GA and Steven Leddy of Palm Coast; two great-grandchildren Martin Leddy,VII, Catherine Brooke- Leddy both of Powder Springs, GA, and nephews; John Fitton of Palm Coast and Peter Fitton (Julie) of Cummings, GA; Bill Moore (Melinda) and their children Marissa, Parker and Preston of Granville, OH. Bill will be giving the eulogy at the service. An inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with time and date to follow on this site. James will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
