

James A. Moriarty, 93, of Daytona Beach, FL passed away November 12, 2014. Mr. Moriarty was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 17, 1918 to the late James and Margaret Moriarty. Jim served our country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. He dedicated a large part of his life to serving the public in law enforcement. He retired from NYPD after 25 years, then moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1972 and worked for Holly Hill Police Department for another 17 years.
Jim managed and coached many softball teams in the area and at the former Derbyshire Recreation Center. He was an avid Seabreeze High School and Notre Dame, football fan. He and his wife, Annette, enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, NV. James also enjoyed his pets, fishing, but more than anything he loved being around family.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Annette, of 30 years who passed away in 1996 and his son James Restivo.
Jim is survived by his sons Andrew Moriarty, of Ormond Beach and Bobby Restivo (Barbara) of New York, daughters Laura Moriarty (Carrie) of Daytona Beach and Colleen Moriarty (Toni) of South Daytona, three grandchildren Alexandria Barilla (Giovanni) of New York, Matt Moriarty of Ormond Beach, and “Little” Andy of Madrid, Spain, also left to cherish Jim’s memory are his niece Janet Moriarty, who called Jim “her favorite uncle” and great-granddaughter Giola Bella Barilla. A visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2014; the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a memorial service being conducted at 6:30 in the chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N.
