Jane Merz, 86 years young, of Ormond Beach, Florida, left our world to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2012, after living a full and active life. She lived every day with optimism, a kind heart and generous smile that touched the lives of everyone she met. Jane was born in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, and married Charles C. E. Merz, who predeceased her in 2009 after 57 years of marriage. She is survived by her two children, Catherine Merz Cosentino and Charles E. Merz, and Wayne Cosentino, Kim Curran-Merz, Dena Merz, grandchildren Sean, Sara and Deven, extended family, and a multitude of dear friends. A member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Jane enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including her cat Amos, golf, playing bridge, painting watercolors, her computer, being with family and friends, and playing the role of social butterfly, often initiating many social events, outings, and bridge games. Her undying love of life and distinctive laugh were infectious and touched the lives of many people who wish to be as happy, independent, active and healthy as she during their latter stages of life. Visitation will be at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Ormond Beach on Tuesday February 14, 2012 from 3:00-5:00PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Ormond Beach on Wednesday February 15, 2012 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, 2121 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, Florida 32610, a place that generously touched Jane’s life.
