Born on May 23, 1949, in Melrose, Massachusetts, Janis was a woman whose life was defined by deep love, unwavering faith, and a heart that always sought to uplift others. Her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family radiated in every part of her life. Those who knew her will remember her for her kindness, her generous spirit, and the comfort she gave to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.
Janis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Miller, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage, and by her dear son, Jimmy Davis. Their loss left a hole in her heart, but she was always a beacon of strength and love, even in the face of hardship.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Christine Phinney, and son-in-law, Chris Phinney, along with her two cherished grandsons, Jacob Hasty and Michael Diener III. Janis’ family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness.
Janis’ passing leaves a profound sadness, but her love and the example she set will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, yet her memory will remain a source of comfort, strength, and inspiration.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to [charity or cause] in her honor, as a way of continuing the spirit of giving that she embodied so beautifully.
A graveside service will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, located at 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL, 32174, US. The service is scheduled for September 27, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm.
