

Jennie Eva Nichols was born Wednesday, November 8, 1922 in Warren County North Carolina. Jennie, born to John and Nannie (Davis) Chavis, was one of six children. The schools of Palmer Springs were the sources of her primary school education. As a young woman, Jennie ventured to NYC, which led to employment and a 30 year career with Roosevelt Hospital. In 1987 Jennie and husband James "Nick" Nichols retired and moved to Palm Coast, Florida. They joined the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast where she served as a greeter for several years. Jennie also volunteered for the Florida Disaster Relief Organization, and the Grandmother’s program within the Flagler County Schools. Jennie was a long standing member of the Gold Star Mothers and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jennie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, James H. Nichols; parents, John and Nannie Chavis; sisters Mattie, Margaret, Rose and Hattie John; son, William L. Davis. Jennie quietly departed this life on April 21, 2011 at Flagler Pines Rehabilitation Center. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters Mary (spouse-David) and Jennie (spouse-Curtis) son Spencer; step-son Jimmy (spouse-Connie) three grandsons Michael, Kevin, and Darryn; two step-granddaughters, Cybil and Toni; seven great grandchildren with the oldest being Shantae Waters-Woodson; four step-great grandchildren; and two brothers, William and James; one brother in law, Reese; and two sisters-in-law, Marguerite and Almeata. Jennie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
