Joseph G. Weber, age 73, passed away February 20, 2024
Joseph George Weber was born July 6, 1950, in Utica, NY, to Norbert and Mary (Besig) Weber. Joe attended high school and college in the Utica area. He met his beloved wife, Donna, in 1970 and married in 1974. After graduating college, he took a job with the NY State Department of Transportation as a surveyor. After vacationing and visiting other close family and friends in the area, Joe and Donna moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1975. Joe worked for ITT as a construction inspector when the early years of development within the City of Palm Coast had begun. When growth and development of that area slowed in the early 1980s, Joe’s time with ITT on the development and inspection side of construction ended, and his journey and eventual lifelong and passionate career as a contractor began at the perfect time with Volusia Construction Company in 1982. Joe was a fiercely loyal and dedicated employee of Volusia Construction for over 20 years, eventually becoming a partner in 2000. Joe’s only son, Joe Jr., joined the team at Volusia Construction in 1999, and they continued to work very closely together for many years. Joe and Joe Jr.’s journey eventually led them to co-found J.D. Weber Construction in 2006 and made it an incredible success. Joe was a partner, officer, and still very active in the day-to-day operations of J.D. Weber Construction at the time of his passing, so much so he would often say that retirement means not working weekends. Joe is irreplaceable.
Joe was also an active member of NUCA of Central Florida, and NUCA of Florida. He joined the NUCA of Central Florida Board of Directors in 1989 and has been an active member and stable and guiding force in the association ever since. Joe served many terms as Secretary, Vice President and President during his time with NUCA Central Florida.
For many years, Joe enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially on his motorcycle, taking many trips across the state and even across the country, journaling as he went. Recently, he would take great pleasure reading snippets from his journals, with accompanying stories, with his daughter Jennifer and her husband Jeff. He had an incredible sense of humor. Joe’s other hobbies included hunting and fishing, but in recent years, he was most passionate about spending as much time as possible with his family, children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter Leianne ride her horses at barrel races and rodeos, and his other granddaughter Lacey ride her dirt bike, play soccer, flag football and volleyball. He was so very proud of his family. Joe was also a dedicated Catholic and member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church. Joe untimely passed two days before Donna and his 50th wedding anniversary.
One of Joe’s most memorable traits was his willingness to help others at all costs, no matter who it was or what they needed. Joe was always there to assist in any way. His generosity and selflessness is indescribable. Joe left a void that cannot be filled.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Norbert and Mary Weber, and leaves behind a loving wife, Donna (Carole) Weber, son Joe (Julie) Weber, granddaughters Leianne and Lacey Weber, daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Jeff Johnson, brothers Steve and Mike Weber, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A mass and funeral will be held at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church on February 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. followed by the internment at Volusia Memorial Park.
