June Powell

June Powell, 87, of Ormond Beach, passed away September 4, 2013 at FL Hospital Memorial Medical Center. June was born in Balsam Lake Wisconsin on June 8, 1926 daughter of Signy (Wangness) and Lucas Rostad. In 1946 she married Luther Powell in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Luther’s career brought the family to many areas, residing in Texas, California, India and Maryland before settling in Ormond Beach after his retirement. For many years June was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and Choir, Tomoka Garden Club, Eagle’s auxiliary and the local chapter of AARP. She enjoyed playing golf at Tomoka Oaks Country Club and was a devoted caregiver for her husband, Luther until his death in 2006. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Phillip and his wife Becky, Scott and Cary; and 4 grandchildren, Jesse and his wife Valentina, Shannon and her husband Scott White, Adam and his wife Shantyle and Audrey. Besides her husband she was predeceased by two sisters and her brother. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at Christ Presbyterian Church 1055 W.
