Louis F. Sposato Jr.

Louis F. Sposato, Jr., 79, died peacefully on Saturday August 28, 2010. He was born on October 15, 1930 in Syracuse, New York, the son of the late Louis and Josephine Sposato, Sr. He lived in Syracuse for 44 years. He retired as a dedicated sergeant of the Syracuse Police Department in 1974 after 21 years of service. He moved to Ormond Beach, Florida and continued his law enforcement career as the Chief of Police of Lake Helen for 9 years.

Louis enjoyed fishing, poker, garage sales and was master carpenter who could build anything you wanted. His ability to create beautiful things for people to enjoy was his passion throughout his entire life. Louis was a member of the American Legion, the Syracuse Police Benevolent Association, Florida Police Chiefs Association and Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Louis was married to the love of his life, Barbara for 40 years. They raised 8 children Lori (David), Debbie (Ray), Patty Ann (Ron), Cindy (Ted), Andy (Judy), Andrea (Scott), Louis (Tammy), and Barbara Ann. He leaves 15 grandchildren, Gregory, Bobbie Jo (deceased), Ronnie, Tianna, Amber, Aliesha, Tiffany M., Rebekah, Louis, Felicia, Tiffany J., Jinni, Lauren, Nick and Zack and 9 great grandchildren. Louis loved his pets through the years especially his faithful companion Sasha.

Louis was predeceased by his 4 sisters, Lillian, Margaret, Alma and Norma and is survived by his sister, Helen Malia in Syracuse, New York. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Louis was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. Louis’ favorite pastime was to be surrounded by his family and he will be missed dearly by all of them.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Halifax Humane Society.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday September 2, 2010 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 South Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL. A Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday September 1, 2010 in The Ormond Beach Chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach.
