Pete, a native of New Haven, CT, passed away on January 6, 2024. Formerly residing in Parsippany, NJ, he became a long-time resident of Ormond Beach, FL. Pete met his wife, Lucille Marie DiLella, while attending Providence College in Rhode Island. Together, they shared 55 years of marriage; this commitment of love formed the cornerstone of his family. He is survived by his wife and three children, daughters Lisa Szydlowski, and Maryann (Anthony) Giordano, and son Peter (Amy) DiLella, who continue to carry forward the legacy of his love. Pete was a beloved brother to Theresa (Joseph) Cuticelli and a proud grandfather (known to them as “Paka”) to Kaitlynn Szydlowski, Kyle Szydlowski, Madeline DiLella, and Peter Francis DiLella, along with five nieces and nephews, and ten grandnieces and nephews. His warmth and guidance will forever be treasured by those he leaves behind.
Known for his zest for life, he found joy in traveling, playing golf, playing cards, enjoying the adventures of boating, and cheering on all his kids and grandkids at their sports events.
Pete actively contributed to his faith community as a devoted member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He participated in various programs within the Church, including Knights of Columbus, leaving a positive impact on the hearts of fellow worshippers.
