
The Villages – Lady Lake, Florida – Raymond T. Irwin – 78, passed away recently on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Cornerstone Hospice after a brief stay in the hospital. Ray was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 15, 1938 to Raymond Louis and Catherine Fitzpatrick Irwin. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia for Civil Engineering, George Washington University for Physics, the U. S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School for Math and Computer Programming, and Miami-Dade Junior College for Business Administration. Ray’s career contributed to many major Florida civil engineering and road construction projects throughout his life. Ray was an avid golfer and enjoyed socializing in his retirement community in the Villages, Florida with his friends during the last years of his life… still playing golf several days per week up until shortly before his death.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters April Elenah Catterton and Catherine Lynette Linka and his two beloved sisters Catherine P. Lesky and Suzanne Layman; and a number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Delores M. Irwin and brothers Charles Francis Irwin and James Joseph Irwin .
A service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida. He will be buried next to his parents Raymond and Catherine Irwin.
