Richard Francis Towey, age 74, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland, on March 23, 1950.
Growing up, his family moved many times but finally settled in Ormond Beach, Florida, in 1970. Here he married the love of his life Lois Ann Miller, in 1973, and together they raised their daughter Melinda. He retired in 2017 from the City of Port Orange as a Water Treatment Operator after 40 years of service. His co-workers were like family to him. He was a member of Tomoka United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed Sunday services and Bible class.
Richard is remembered for his willingness to lend a hand to literally anyone, his hard work ethic, creativity, free spirit and kind, sentimental heart. He loved nature and the ocean, especially offshore fishing with his friends. He was a talented artist painting in oils and acrylics, and drawing in pen and ink, charcoal and colored pencils.
Richard was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois Towey, daughter Melinda Bowlby and granddaughter Chelsea of San Mateo, California, brother John Towey of St. Cloud, Florida and many more family members and friends.
