Robert H. Schilling

Robert “Bob” Henry Schilling, 71, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022. Bob was born August 15, 1950, to Garline Grace Schilling and Cecil Francis Schilling in Lafayette, IN. Bob attended Jefferson High School until serving in the Marine Corps. from 1967-1971, serving in the Vietnam War. While completing his tour in Vietnam, Bob received two Purple Hearts and a Navy Cross. Following his time in the military, Bob turned his personal love to a professional one and hand painted cars out of his family garage. After his autobody career had ceased, he became a truck driver and retired from Venture Logistics in 2012. He also received many Truck Driver of the Year awards.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Garline and Cecil Schilling. Bob is survived by his only sister Cecilia (Tom) Pearson; children Melissa Whitaker of Lafayette, Jennifer Schilling (Tammy) of Edgewater, Robert Schilling II (Janine) of Tampa and Sandra Hanson(Chris) of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren: James, Joe, Jessica, Josh, Brock, Alley, Anna, Grace, Salwa Ann, Ashlynn and Caden; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Bob enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and a friendly conversation over coffee and spending time with his kids and grandkids. A military honors service will take place at a later date in Lafayette, Indiana.
