Brian Henry Bongard

(January 2nd, 1946 – February 18th, 2016)

Brian passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2016 with family by his side at Peterborough Regional Health Centre after many years of health problems. Beloved husband of Gwenyth for 42 years. Loving father of Geoffrey (Sue) and Matthew (Amanda). Caring Grandpa of Chloe, Claire, William, Jacob and Josie. Brian will be greatly missed by his brother John (Judy), nephews Craig and James, mother-in-law Eva Baldock and brother-in-law Ian Baldock (Nancy). Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lillian Bongard. He leaves his family whom he greatly loved. We are all saddened by his loss. He was a civil engineer with CP Rail, and then Morrison Hershfield prior to retirement. He always wanted to work for the railroad since he watched the trains passing by when on summer vacation in Muskoka. Brian enjoyed model railroading, everything related to railways, reading and collecting books. The family thanks Riverview Manor in Peterborough for his recent care which was provided with much kindness. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, February 23rd from 12:00 noon until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation.
