It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Toms, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, who left us too soon at the age of 37. Born to Ken and Anne Toms, Chris was a devoted family man, cherished husband to Kylee, and loving father to his two sons, Wyatt and Brody. He was the younger brother to Nicole, Heather (Clayton Sorensen), and Michael. Chris was a proud uncle to his nieces Kassidy, Bella, Bekah, and his nephew Ben. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family in Thunder Bay, and loved by numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Chris was a passionate and dedicated Firefighter, serving with the Oshawa Fire Service since July 2018. His unwavering commitment to his role within the department left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Prior to joining Oshawa, Chris proudly served with the New Tecumseth Fire Rescue. His strength, courage, and camaraderie with his fellow firefighters will never be forgotten.
Outside of his work, Chris had many interests and passions. A devoted hockey fan, he followed the New Jersey Devils with great enthusiasm. His love for adventure was reflected in his passion for snowmobiling, and he cherished every moment spent outdoors. The summers at the family cottage were particularly special to Chris, where he could often be found boating, relaxing, and teaching his boys how to fish off the dock.
Chris's infectious laugh, kind heart, and generous spirit touched the lives of many. He was deeply loved and respected by his friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived.
Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home 847 King St. W. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 3 PM to 6 PM and funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospital for Sick Children in Chris’s memory.
Chris’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. He will be forever missed but never forgotten.
