I had the pleasure of playing with Donald as well as with David and Margaret-Ann when we were kids on Simpson Avenue in Toronto. I lived across the street until 1959 when we moved to Scarborough. My heart goes out to you all.

To the family, I don't normally read the "obits" and yet I did this week only to have Don's death notice 'jump off the page'.  We of course first met at Boys Brigade (3rd Toronto) at St. John's and then went on to RCI at the same time.  I remember him bringing a trumpet to our house so that he and I could 'duet'; me on piano.  I also recall him playing football for RCI.  Sadly we didn't keep in touch and many years have passed.
For me, as for all, there is the ability that is God-given - that we can remember.  He will be remembered!

To the Scrimgeour Family,

I was saddened by the news of Don's passing.  I worked with and for Don for a number of years at Bill Patchett's Cobourg store.

I enjoyed working both with and for Don.  He was a very friendly and fair man to work for.  He had a great sense of humour and work ethics.

I can only express my sorrow to you and your family and wish you the best in the journey you now face without Don in your life.

Treasure your memories!  Death robs you of the future, but it can't take the past and all the memories you have.

Don was a great man that will be dearly missed, I worked for Don for a year and was fortunate enough to get to know and spend another two years with Don on a personal level and he always treated his family and loved ones with so much love, I spent alot of time at his home and loved him like a parent.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Don's passing.  There was still so much to do.  My thoughts and sympathy are extended to each of you.  I pray that each of you find inner strength and peace from many cherished memories.  I know from our many talks and get-togethers throughout the years that Don was a good man and a loving and caring father.  His spirit will continue to live on in all of us he has touched.  I am both humbled and proud to say Don was my friend.

The news of Don's passing came as such a shock. I worked for Don at his first No Frills on Brock St. My deepest sympathy to all the family at this very sad time.

My heartfelt sympathy to Don's family.  I got to know Don through his years of generous participation in Westminster United's annual Christmas hamper program.  He always welcomed me in his office.  Don supported our annual hampers (80 last December), as well as WHAM (after school) initiative for kids.  During our last chat, he talked about slowing down and doing more fishing and golf.  We just recently presented him with a well deserved appreciation plaque. Don certainly touched a lot of lives and will be greatly missed.

 My heart goes out to Kevin, Kyle and the rest of their family.  I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Be strong and remember he lives on in each of your hearts.

I am so saddend by the loss of Don. I will remember him as a quiet, easy going gentleman. We had looked forward to our golf in Myrtle Beach next week and I always enjoyed our poker games and the occasional golf match. My condolences to all his family and freinds. 
He will be missed but not forgotten.
