He will also be deeply missed by his sisters Margaret Mary Smith (Andy), Kathleen Cunningham (Gerry), brother-in-law Dennis McIvor, sister-in-law Sheila Monaghan, sister-in-law Sharon Marsland (Willie), and brother-in-law John Berry (Liz). Gerry left a lasting impression on just about everyone he came across. He had many circles of friends, beginning in his hometown of Dumbarton, Scotland, to his chosen home of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. He was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary of the People Parish and served with the Knights of Columbus. Gerry was a faithful member of the Durham Celtic Supporter’s Club. He was also a proud steward of the Power Workers’ Union and 33-year employee of Ontario Power Generation.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10th from 4-8pm at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at 10:30am at St. Mary of the People Parish, 570 Marion Avenue, Oshawa, followed by interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 355 Taunton Road, Whitby.

Our family would like to thank the team at the Durham Regional Cancer Centre for their care and support over the last five years. We would also like to recognize the love and support of friends and family during Gerry’s illness and in our time of grief.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to honour Gerry’s memory, we kindly request donations to either of two charities dear to his heart.
