Henry Devlin of Oshawa, Ontario died peacefully in his daughter's (Karen) home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. He was 88 years old. Beloved husband of the late Frances (Lee) Devlin. Cherished father of Frances (Jeff), Karen (James), Henry (Stacey), Robert (Cindy) and Katherine and Dolores. Treasured grandfather of Jeffrey, Jonathan, Joseph, Jessica, Amanda and Andrew, Kara and Patrick, Hailey and Sabrina and Margaret (Maggie). Beloved Great-Granddad to Elizabeth, Theodore and newborn baby, Jacob Henry. Cherished son of the late, John Albert and Betsy (Whittington) Devlin and adored brother of Charlotte and Molly of Liverpool, England and late John, William, Ben, Tommy, Albert and Robert. Henry is lovingly remembered by many family members at home in England and Ireland. Dearest brother in law of Irene and Danny Buechler and Uncle of Adam, Mandy (Paul) and Chad (Sheena). Henry was born in Liverpool, England; one of nine children. He served in the Merchant Navy during the second World War, and was a member of the National Seaman's Union until 1950. After immigrating to Canada with his young family in the early 60s, Henry and his beloved wife, Frances, happily raised their six children in their family home on Masson Street. Henry was employed in management at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club until his retirement in 1989. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, October 25th from 6 – 7 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
