John Frank Gallo

On Monday, June 20th, 2016, John passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Toronto East General Hospital. John retired from the City of Oshawa where he was employed for many years. An active member of our Oshawa Community as a Knights of Columbus for St. Mary of the People Parish Council, the Bocce Club of Oshawa, and Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario, Former School Trustee with the Durham Catholic School Board. During his illness, he maintained his sense of humour and smiles, enjoying each day with family and friends. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Miniaci) for almost 45 years. Loving father of Mary-Lou (Shawn) Northey, Michelle (Jim) Nelson and John (Claudia) Gallo. Amazing Nonno to Emilie, Isabella, Adriana, James and Domenic. Fondly remembered by his sisters, Emma, Teresa and Mary, brother Luigi, their families, his mother-in-law Lina Miniaci, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and his many nieces, nephews, many friends, as well as his half siblings Bruna and Maurizio. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Luisa, his father-in-law Joseph Miniaci, his sister Filomena and his brother Frank. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Friday, June 24th from 5 – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARY OF THE PEOPLE PARISH (570 Marion Avenue, Oshawa) on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Kidney Transplant Unit at Toronto General Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
