10 June, 1954 – 27 February, 2012
Passed away peacefully at age 57 at her home in Whitby, Ontario on Monday, February 27th, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Oakville, Ontario, Judy is survived by her husband Peter, children Brock and Ashley, parents Robert and Mae Dark, sister Janice (Gordon), nephews Joel and Jonathan and many other family members and friends.
With her typical grace and dignity, Judy waged a valiant battle against an aggressive cancer that ultimately consumed her. We thank God for blessing us with such an incredible, loving person. Judy graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree from Queen’s University and spent her entire career in nursing – most notably over 20 years with the Durham Region Health Department. Her life of dedication and service to others included her family, nursing career and active involvement in The Salvation Army in Kingston and Oshawa. Peter, Brock and Ashley would like to thank Judy’s family, friends, work colleagues and caregivers for their loving support over the past year and to acknowledge the devoted efforts of the Oncology and Radiation departments of Princess Margaret Hospital and the Palliative Care unit of Oshawa General Hospital. The professionalism and compassion of the nursing teams from Central East Community Care Access Centre and specifically, Partners in Community Nursing, ensured that Judy’s final days were comfortable and dignified. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at The Salvation Army - Oshawa Temple (570 Thornton Rd. N., Oshawa) on Saturday, March 24th at 1:30 p.m. with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to The Salvation Army - Oshawa Temple or Pancreatic Cancer Canada. Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234).
