December 21, 1961 – April 11, 2015
Although some may not have known it, Julia believed in the light of the Lord and this gave her strength in life. On Saturday, April 11th Julia passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa when she received her final calling to join God our Father in heaven. Julia leaves behind her husband, Stephen Brazeau, whom she loved dearly. She was loved by her family, father Jan Oko (deceased) and mother Wanda (Ludkiewicz) Oko, her sister Mary Oko and husband Jeff Hoedeman and her brother Richard Oko. Julia had a deep connection with the Brazeau family – her father-in-law, Raymond Brazeau (deceased) and his wife Cecile (Labelle) Brazeau, brother-in-law Marvin and wife Cindy (Alt) Brazeau, sister-in-law Donna (Brazeau) and husband Bill Vineski, sister-in-law Rhonda Brazeau and John Mellon as well as all her nieces and nephews Alisha, Ashley, Christina, Christopher, Julie, Laura, Matthew, Meagan and Samantha. A special mention to Marion Chaput, her closest and dearest friend, with whom she shared many laughs and long talks. Julia will be remembered for keeping everyone on their toes. A straight shooter who would tell it like it is with a quirky sense of humour. She liked to play and have fun and this was shown best in her interactions with her nieces, nephews and friends’ kids. If something didn’t work out for the child in a game or event they participated in, she would find a way to make it work while still having a great time. Julia also loved cats and horses, enjoying time with them whenever she had the chance. Julia felt most comfortable in jeans and a T-shirt and was always sporting one of her many baseball caps. Julia had a very generous heart and never hesitated to help someone who was in need. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. W. (905-721-1234) on Saturday, April 18th from 12 – 1 p.m. Funeral Service will follow starting at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Durham Mental Health Services or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
