

Passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on September 27th, 2013 at the age of 97. Predeceased by her adoring parents Adam Burnett of Crossgates, Dunfermline Scotland and Jemima Ferguson Cumming of Killichonan, Rannoch Scotland, as well as by her loving husband of 65 years, James Millar McLaren of Clydebank, Scotland (2005). Cherished mother of Barbara (Dr. Eric Tucker), Judith (Dr. Glen Almond), and Cathy (Ray Kissel). Respected and loved grannie of Eric(Ricky), Chris, late Andrew, Patrick, Robb, Christopher, James, Alex, and Annie, great grandmother of Lokana, Logan, Jayden and Kaila. Marion will be fondly remembered for her cheerful disposition and her love of family, friends and animals. Marion enjoyed nature, gardening (in particular her flower gardens), sports (recreation as a youth, watched as an adult and enjoyed when played by her grandchildren), reading and conversation. She treasured her relationships with people and remained, until her final hour, engaged, gracious and finding good in the moment. Marion’s gentle spirit was enjoyed over the years by friends and neighbours in Toronto, St. John, New Brunswick, Montreal and Pincourt Quebec, Mississauga, Florida and Sutton. Marion resided most recently in Oshawa and Bowmanville. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to either of Marion’s favourite charities; Dog Guides Canada and the Salvation Army, would be gratefully accepted. Visitation will take place at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, October 15th from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday October 16th at 11:00 a.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery, 2845 Bloor St., Toronto. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the devoted and compassionate caregivers at Glen Hill Strathaven LTC for their tender care of Marion and her family.
