

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa on Monday, August 26th, 2013, Mary Emaline Hammond, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Jack Roy Perry (May 15th, 1998). Dear mother of Gordon and his wife Margaret of Oil Springs and David and his wife Marie of Napanee. Lovingly remembered by her grandson John and his wife Amanda of Napanee. Predeceased by her sister Nellie Shea and her four brothers, Arthur, Gordon, Herbert and Norman. Survived by her sisters-in-law Doris Bramley of Windsor and Joy Perry of Oshawa. Adopted grandmother to eight International Exchange Students, Bram of Belgium, Mirjam of Estonia/France, Florian of Germany, Terry of Australia, Yuka of Japan, Heloise of Germany and Mirja of Sweden. Mary was a lifelong volunteer and active member of Kingsview United Church, member of the Fellowship Unit, Past President of Kingsview U.C.W and a member of the Oshawa Travel Trailer Club. Mary, Eda Mounts and Marg Baxter started the Meals on Wheels program for Oshawa in 1971, for which they received a citation from the Canadian Red Cross. Mary was also chair of the C.N.I.B. – Durham Region. Visitation will be held at the OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa (905-721-1234), on Thursday, August 29th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, August 30th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment Oshawa Union Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the CNIB or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
