After a long 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s, and in her 95th year, our beloved mother and oma has finally found peace. With her loving family by her side, she passed away at Fairview Lodge on June 7th, 2019. Predeceased by her loving husband of 9 years (2002 – 2011, and former Second World War time sweetheart), Henk Wieringa of Hattem, the Netherlands. Loving mother of Martin (Judy), Karena Brooks (Jim), Grace Hudsonroder (Chuck), Marguerite Schwass (Mark), Jack (Patti). Cherished Oma of 10 grandchildren, Chris, Emily (Ryan), Michael, Taylor, Jessica, Hailey, Grant, Julia, Rebecca and Hannah. Step mother and step oma, lovingly remembered and missed by the Wieringa families in the Netherlands. Predeceased by her dear sister Trijnie Mulder (Piet) of Zwolle, and sister of Siep Devries (Diny) of Apeldoorn. Last but not least, affectionately, “Tante Nel” to so many nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands. The family would like to thank the staff of Fairview Lodge for their compassion, loving care, and constant upholding of our mother’s dignity despite her cruel disease.
