Although our hearts are broken, we are content in knowing that Dad has now been reunited with his wife (predeceased 2016) - our beautiful mother - Dorothy.
Born in Liverpool, England, Peter came to Canada in 1950 at age 16, married Dorothy in 1961, raised his family in Scarborough, then spent his most recent 25 years living in Whitby.
Peter is lovingly remembered by sons Mike and Tim, daughter Clare, Brenda, daughter-in law Lisa and his grandchildren Curtis and Erin.
Peter began working in the trades as an apprentice electrician, became a licensed electrician, then worked for the CBC as a lighting and sound technician for 30 years until retiring in 1990. In retirement Peter worked a few part-time jobs, joined the Knights of Columbus and helped Dorothy care for their grandchildren.
After recovering from the sudden and unexpected death of Mom in 2016, Dad spent his later years reading the newspaper every day, reading many military and political books, walking in the neighbourhood, talking to the neighbours and making sure Tim didn’t forget his lunch or coffee mug when he went to work.
To Dad’s neighbours and friends, several PSW’s and family members who took the time to visit regularly, care for dad and chat with dad into his early 90’s, thank you, it meant the world to dad - he enjoyed and appreciated every minute of it.
Dad’s legacy will live on through the family he cherished and in the many lives he touched in a positive light over his 91 years.
His family and friends will gather for a catholic funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 903 Giffard Street, Whitby, on Wednesday April 8, 2026, at 10:30 am.
No funeral home visitation and cremation has already taken place, as per Dad’s wishes.
