To all the Dasberg familys.... Very late entry  but just want to say that Rudy was a great man.I had the joy of working beside him at General Motors as a summer student around 1976.
      I never hear about the passing of many people I have known.....and my condolence is so late  on many occasions.....that I  my condolences is also on here for  your mother  and sister....Life is short.....Harry Van Hees

Gecondoleerd met het overlijden van oom Ruud. We herinneren hem als een warm, geïnteresseerd en oprecht mens. Heel fijn dat we hem hebben meegemaakt, nog maar 4 jaar geleden waren we bij u te gast. De interesse en humor is ons bijgebleven en we koesteren fijne herinneringen aan die dagen. Heel veel sterkte met uw verlies.

Jim - I am very sorry to hear about Rudy's passing. I remember him working in his garden for hours on end, while we were busy still playing street hockey in July :) 
He was the only "dad" on the street that the neighbourhood kids were not afraid of. The photo album pics are really good, they bring back a lot of happy memories.
My condolences to you and your family, Rudy was a very good man.

He was the hub of an extremely loving family and he will be missed dearly. I thank Tyler so much for inviting me into your family. Dear Family,

It is with a sad heart that I have to acknowledge the fact that my favorite Oom Ruud has past away. If anyone deserved to live forever it would be Oom Ruud. I have never known a more kind and gentle man. I never saw or heard of him being cross with anyone or anything. He was an uncomplicated and happy man. I can’t remember seeing him without a smile. 
There are but a few people that we will meet in our life’s journey that are genuine and real, Oom Ruud was one of those people, a person that really cared about you and your life.
There is an old saying that goes ‘only the good die young’. Well Oom Ruud was a good, gentle, engaging and loving man that lived a long meaningful life, a life that touched so many other lives. His life was meaningful in the sense that anyone that knew Oom Ruud is a better person for having known him. 
I am sure he is in heaven beaming with pride for the family he left behind that share the same attributes that were inspired by this wonderful patriarch. 

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

As friends of Ena, Jack and Jon our family was deeply saddened by the death of Rudolf Dasberg. Ena was kind enough to read to us some of Rudolf's letters which are now part of the Canadian Immigration Museum Story Collection. They were a touching reminder of the immigrant history shared by so many Canadian families.  I am grateful that these stories will live on for generations to come.

This was my dad's favourite Psalm and I know that it would be the one he would share with you all.  Rudolf was a dear friend of our family for many years.  He was a blessed man with a loving family and friends.  He was an inspiration to all who knew him.  We will greatly miss him but know in our hearts that some day we will all meet again.
