I just found out about the news and it was great sadness that I hear of Troy's passing. Troy was my most reliable and dependable timekeeper while I worked at Canlan IceSports and I always thought that he would do very well in whatever he chose to do. It is always tough to lose a loved family member and in fact my father's one year anniversary is this Friday, Dec.2nd. I thought 61 was young when he died but to hear of Troy's passing just sent a shock through me at such a young age. My deepest sympathies

I am happy to have met Troy. He was always positive and helpful. I got the chance to know him more during and after the class we had together last term. He liked beer and introduced me to Rickards White. I wish we could still go to Bomber and share some beers together. It is a big loss not having him here anymore. Rest in peace Troy

My sincerest condolences to the Ottenbrite family and friends, my prayers are with you in this time of grief. It was a privilege to get to know Troy during high school, as he was an intelligent and down to earth guy. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten. Troy may you rest in peace.

I didn't know Troy for a long, but I was deeply saddened by the terrible news. He was a very kind person, always smiling and in a good mood. His presence and his joy will be missing.

Being able to count Troy as a friend was a true blessing in my life. He was always so genuinely friendly and enthusiast. His loss is an everyday burden. He will be sorely missed. Memories of him will not be forgotten. May he find peace.

As I did not become aware of this tragedy until the end of the week I unfortunately missed the visitation and funeral. I wish to convey my most heartfelt condolences to you on the loss of Troy.  I had the pleasure to get to know Troy this fall at the University of Waterloo when he took my Hydrology laboratory field course and he will be sorely missed.  He was a bright and enthusiastic student who contributed significantly to the class by answering questions and sharing his experiences and I enjoyed our conversations after class.  He excelled in the course, showed a keen interest in the subject, and I’m sure you would have been proud of his efforts. I will miss him and what could have been.

This Christmas season God added a special angle to his heavan. He call Troy to him. We are all sad but richer from knowing Troy.We keep him and his parents in our prayers until we meet again my friend. God bless and take care of all in his family.

I remember being in first-year engineering and staying up really late with Troy and a bunch of other people, working on a computer programming assignment that was due the next day. Nothing was making sense at all, and eventually I asked Troy for help; he talked out the assignment with me and helped me figure it all out. He did a great job teaching me what I needed to know and I remember thinking, if he wasn't such a nice guy, I would resent him for being so intelligent! To the Ottenbrite family, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you know that Troy was an inspiration to all of us who met him in Waterloo.

News of Troy’s passing has left me completely devastated. Troy was so kind, empathetic, helpful and bright.  I could talk to him for hours about anything and everything. So sorry to hear of your loss Jean. For the brief time I knew Troy he left a strong impression on me of a leader, a driven individual. People in the weight room at the civic looked up to him, they followed exercises he did because of his confidence and his experience. He will be missed.

It's so hard to believe. I am so sorry I cannot be at the funeral tomorrow, I really wish I could be. Troy will always be remembered as a wonderful goofy guy that always made everyone's day at school when we were sick of studying and homework. Things just won't be the same with out him. In all the world there will never be anyone like Troy! Your beautiful precious boy brought so much goodness, love, joy, laughter and happiness into our lives and the lives of those whom he touched! He had a keen intellect,and during all his life he generously used it to help so many friends, fellow students and employers.  He was so intensely bright.  All of us delighted in his presence and happily anticipated his arrival when he was coming over.
We are completely numb with grief over his departure from this life.  Only GOD knows how much we all love and cherish him.  To Paul and I he was a much beloved son; to Sean, Tony, Joey, Johnny, Tommy, Tamara and Barry, he was a much beloved brother.  So often when he would come over, he would be met with hugs, and boisterous enthusiasm by all the kids!  He had a wonderful presence, and a magnetic persona.  To our Mary, Troy was the love of her life, and it would be impossible to say more.  
As a family, only GOD knows the unspeakable anguish you must be enduring.  We ourselves are ravaged and overwhelmed with indescribable grief and profound sorrow.
We cherish the time we were privileged to share in the life of your most precious and beautiful son and brother, grandson, stepson, cousin and nephew.  And we thank God for that ineffable gift of his life.

Our entire family is devestated in losing Troy.  He was such a huge part of our family's life, it's so hard to imagine that he's not here. Our love for Troy is immeasurable.
