Avis L. Park

Avis L. Park, 92, of Uniondale, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at River Terrace Estates Health Care. Born on February 27, 1920 in Jefferson Township, Wells County, she was a daughter of the late Carlin M. and M. Fern (Newhard) Underhill. She worked at the Uniondale Telephone Company and various other small businesses in Uniondale. She was a lifelong member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church-Uniondale. She was an avid high school sports fan. Surviving family include her sons, Donald E. (Pisamai “Nit”) Park of Uniondale, Richard G. (Sheila) Park of Ossian; daughters, Carolyn J. (Stanley) Gilbert and Kimberly A. (Michiael) Downey both of Bluffton; 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George H. Park, whom she married on Dec. 25, 1938, and passed before her in March of 2008; 2 great grandsons, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior with Reverend Richard Vonesh officiating. Visitation will also be from 2-8 pm on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wells County Food Bank or Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
