Dorothy Bitzell

Dorothy A. Bitzell, 92, of Ossian, passed away July 16, 2013. She was born on January 5, 1921 in Pike County, Indiana to the late William A. and Modie Inez (Craig) Hostetter. She worked at Bowmar for 21 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ossian, a 60 year member of the Pythian Sisters, and the UAW. She will be remembered as someone who greatly cared for children through her life. Surviving family include her brother, W. Edwin Hostetter of Fort Wayne; sister, Mary E. Parker of Wolcottville; step-son, Allen R. Bitzell; step-daughter, Mary K. (Jerry) Field; and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews including, Rolland Coverdale of Bluffton, and Cathy Kleinknight of Ossian. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Alvah E. Bitzell; son, Roger Barron; and brothers, David George, and Dale Hostetter. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, Ossian, 123 S. Jefferson St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be 3-7 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
